Meet the Team!

Here at Alberta Cattle Co. teamwork is extremely important. We strive towards exemplifying hard work, determination, and a unified perspective to make our farm the best it can be.

Farm Manager - Rebecca 

Rebecca is in charge of creating the farm budget and has played an integral part in keeping the team within the parameters of our budget. Rebecca has also assisted in overlooking all the other sectors of establishing our farm.

Nutritionist - Erin  

Erin was in charge of composing a custom feed program and ensure that feedstuffs meet safety and quality standards. She determines, examines, and understands nutritional disorders in the herd and is able to make diet adjustments accordingly. She also makes regular visits to the farm to assess animal health in relation to diet.

Marketing Manager - Kiersten

Kiersten is in charge of the creation and maintenance of social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram. Kiersten is also the creator and editor of this website. In addition, Kiersten has created a volunteer-ran agricultural education program for school-aged kids in urban centres.

Livestock Manager - Kyle

Kyle is in charge of purchasing cattle. He purchases the best possible choice of cattle by determining breeds that have a great feed conversion ratio, which breeds bring premium prices at market, and which breeds mature earlier. He has determined how many cattle to purchase, works with the land manager to determine the capacity of the farm, and has worked on obtaining the VBP+ certification.

Animal Health - Jessica
Assisting - Kiersten

Jessica is in charge of inventory and procurement of vitamins and medications needed for common bovine ailments. She is also in charge of developing Standard Operating Procedures to ensure efficient and humane processing of cattle. She is responsible for treating sick and injured animals and keeping record of this through RFID tags and documentation.

Land and Building Managers - Richard and Kevin

Richard and Kevin have been responsible for finding land for our farm. They examined the price, topography, soil composition, and included facilities in order to buy a plot of land that best suits the needs of the farm. They have also been responsible for development on the land and have determined the price, which facilities are needed, the ease of use, and the maintenance costs.

Biosecurity - Sam

Sam is in charge of controlling human and animal traffic in and out of the feedlot, the collection and spreading procedures for manure management, cleaning and sanitation protocols, and carcass removal. In addition, he has also worked with the Animal Health personnel to coordinate vaccination protocols. He has also played an integral part in training employees in biosecurity protocol. 

Labour and Payroll Manager - Ryan

Ryan was in charge of finding and researching which labour jobs needed to be filled on our farm. He created job descriptions and titles, as well as constructed an employee handbook detailing what it means to be an Alberta Cattle Co. worker. He determined suitable salaries and established an annual payroll.

Equipment Manager - Cavan

Cavan was in charge of buying and obtaining all necessary equipment required by each manager. He determined costs, and found the most cost effective and highest quality equipment available. He has worked to develop a catalogue outlining all of the equipment purchased for the feedlot.

Insurance and Risk Assessment - Ezri

Ezri was in charge of organizing and obtaining  insurance and coverage pertaining to livestock feeding and growing facility, hypothermia, carcass removal, blanket livestock, contaminated feed or water, and infrastructure insurance. She also organized potential risk management programs and practices which include getting to know customers and having good communication, closely monitoring receivables, and reconcile receivables with remaining customer cattle inventory.
